A 19-WEEK PLAN FOR THE 42.2 KM DISTANCE
With a background in the marathon and distance road racing, I always wanted to be able to share a safe training method with my community for this event. There is such a sense of flow when you run the marathon, the road stretching in front of your, leaning into the breeze, your legs turning over rythmically. However, the marathon can also be a risky event to both prepare for and to race. Many athletes begin their preparations enthusiastically, stepping up their training distances week by week in an approach that too ofter leads to injury or overtraining. Therefore, I am utilising my 3-week Wave Training approach to assist you to reach the start line in optimal shape, both phsyically and emotionally.
Even though my The Trail Running Guidebook is obviously leaning towards trail running athletes, I highly recommend you grab a copy to support your marathon endeavours. All the principles in it, from nutrition & hydration to recovery from workouts, Wave Training theories to training as an older athlete, the concepts will be hugely beneficial to you too.
