100KM TRAINING PLANNER
A 24-WEEK PLAN FOR THE 100 KM DISTANCE
"Through Hanny's positive guidance, in a few years I have gone from being a novice runner, thrilled to finish a 50km, to competing in an international 175km mountain race, the 2017 Ultra Trail du Mt Blanc, where I finished twenty-third female." - Brook Martin
This 100km trail or road running training planner is one of my advanced-level programs. It assumes that you have a substantial base of training behind you, with no injuries or niggles as you embark on the planner. It is also important to consider that your performance gains will only come if we can agree that training is both the workout completed AND the recovery afterwards.
It is suitable for any 100km event that an athlete is striving towards, and it guides the athlete in how to tailor their training to their specific event’s demands. Therefore, a great planner for events such as Tarawera 100km, Cradle Mountain Ultra, Surf Coast Century and much more.
I am frequently asked how my 100-km training plan differs from the 100KM UTA event planner. The focus this planner is on slightly more runnable 100km events. UTA has a very specific set of challenges with long sections of stairs and staircases followed by runnable terrain and a brutal long hill to finish. This new planner was written with more runnable 100km events in mind and can be adjusted to suit a variety of terrains.
Given what you are about to embark on, I also believe it is imperative that you read The Trail Running Guidebook. Finally, I need you to be firmly in the driver's seat of your 100km preparations and if you need any further assistance I would be very happy to help you via my Performance Coaching.

PRAISE FOR THE PROGRAM
"I downloaded your 100miler plan and used it for my 3rd Great North Walk. To my complete and utter surprise I knocked of 3 hours and won 1st female and took home the trophy. I am now training for my second Coast 2 Kosci and am using the 100miler plan again but adding a lot of hiking before and after some sessions. I just wanted to let you know you made a back of the packer a front of the packer with your knowledge and intuition! Whether you have run a miler or not, you know your stuff!! Thank you!! I never would have imagined a first place finish. It wasn’t within my sights, ever!"
"I have just finished your 100 km training programme for the 102 km race at Tarawera. I managed to do all but 1 of the mission runs. (Missed the 5 hour). Anyway, very nervous for my first 100km and had set myself a goal of under 15 hours. The day went well, with nutrition and pacing. I managed 14.26.59 and first in 50-60 age group! I am very happy with how it all went and once again enjoyed following your plan. Thank you very much. Now I need to think about what to work towards next!!"
